Morning Dove has been chosen as one of five finalists, for a $100,000 grant from Impact 100, to fund our NARHA Horses for Heroes pilot program!!!!
Impact 100 is a recognized 501C3, which grants $100,000 once a year, to an organization in the greater Indianapolis area, to help impact the community. Impact 100 is comprised of over 100 women in the state of Indiana, all of which give $1,000 a year. The philosophy of Impact 100 is to fund a critical need in the Indianapolis community – by awarding large-scale grants the impact on the community is vast. The mission of Impact 100 is as follows: Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis is a charitable women’s giving circle dedicated to awarding high impact grants to nonprofits in our community in the areas of arts & culture, education, environment, family, and health & wellness.
The process started back in February when our grant application was chosen out of hundreds of applications to move into the semi-finals. After completing a more detailed and extensive grant application in March, Morning Dove was chosen as one of five finalists for the Health and Wellness committee. On Tuesday May 3rd, representatives from the Health and Wellness committee came to Morning Dove for a site visit. The day was wonderful – the ladies were able to observe a lesson, learn more about the history and future of Morning Dove and gain a better and more detailed vision of our NARHA Horses for Heroes program. On May 5th we were notified that Morning Dove had been chosen as the winner of the Health and Wellness committee. As part of being the finalists for our committee Morning Dove will receive a $12,500 grant. On June 9th Morning Dove will give a 7-minute presentation at the Impact 100 annual meeting/dinner. At the end of the evening the winner of the $100,000 grant will be announced.
NARHA Horses for Heroes assists military veterans through equine assisted activities and therapies. Indiana has over 6,000 veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – working with our local VA we have established over 200 soldiers in the Poly-Trauma Unit in need of a Horses for Heroes program. The Horses for Heroes program will help veterans with emotional health, physical health (including balance and strength), as well as reintegration into society and family life. The need is there – the desire is there – Morning Dove is organized and ready to start the NARHA Horses for Heroes of Central Indiana program, and now thanks to Impact 100 the funds will be in place to launch the pilot program on September 1,2011.
A special thanks to EVERYONE who has helped along this process – we feel so incredibly blessed to be in the finals for the Impact 100 grant and look forward to the first day one of our veterans mounts a horse at Morning Dove. Providing this program is the least we can do for the men and women who so willingly serve our county every day.
God Bless America!!!!!!!!!!
