Our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals in the greater Indianapolis community with physical, cognitive and/or behavioral challenges through equine assisted therapies and activities.

We offer year round programs in equine assisted activities, such as therapeutic riding, hippotherapy and equine learning programs including our special summer programs A Horse Like Me and CampAbility! We also offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Morning Dove is a Premiere Accredited Center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH) and only employs PATH-certified instructors to facilitate classes.  New participants are referred by current riders and their families, physicians, therapists, school counselors or they find Morning Dove by word of mouth.

After an assessment by one of our certified instructors, participants attend weekly equine therapy sessions which include learning about horses, grooming, and riding in our arenas and out on the nature trails. Sessions are carefully planned with specific cognitive, physical and social goals for each participant so that progress can be tracked and lesson plans can be adjusted to meet each rider’s individual needs.

To best serve our participants, Morning Dove partners with specialists including St. Vincent Pediatric Rehabilitation Services (hippotherapy and A Horse Like Me), Easterseals Crossroads Indiana (CampAbility),  and local schools and organizations serving special needs children and adults.  Morning Dove also participates in Indiana Special Olympics offering equestrian sports training and athletic competition in an Olympic-type sport for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Morning Dove is funded in part through lesson fees, but primarily must rely on individual and corporate philanthropy, as well as targeted grants. Our goal is to serve the broadest community possible regardless of ability to pay. Please visit our Donation pages to learn more about ways you can help!
