Lead Changes is a 6 week program using equine facilitated learning (EFL) activities to help develop positive character and successful behaviors in at-risk youth. The program is designed for any child between the ages of 8 and 14 with difficulties at home or school that might be interfering with their success. Our ultimate goal is for the students to increase self-confidence, develop more compassion for animals and other people, and make better choices. Using the evidence based 21st Century Skills as a foundation, we have created a series of 6 lessons with activities to teach and reinforce core learning and innovation skills as defined by 21st Century Skills. These skills are:

  • Creativity and innovation
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Communication
  • Collaboration

Lead Changes is offered in partnership with grade/middle schools in the greater Indianapolis community, including Marion, Boone, Hamilton and Hendricks counties.  If you or your school is interested in learning more about this program, please contact Sarah Holden, sarahh@mdtrc.org or 317-733-9393.
