Welcome to Morning Dove
Our Mission is to enrich the lives of individuals in need, through a relationship with horses in a safe and natural setting.
Founded in 1998, Morning Dove Therapeutic Riding, Inc. offers equine-assisted therapy services to a wide range of participants with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities. New participants are referred by physicians or therapists, or find Morning Dove by word of mouth. After a thorough assessment by one of our nationally certified instructors, special needs participants may attend weekly group or private sessions which include learning about horses, grooming, and riding both in the inside ring and on an outdoor nature trail.
Sessions are carefully planned with specific cognitive, physical and social goals for each participant, so that progress can be tracked and lesson plans can be adjusted to meet each rider’s individual needs.
Morning Dove is a member of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NAHRA) and employs NARHA-certified instructors to facilitate classes. We offer our therapeutic riding program and a hippo therapy program in partnership with St. Vincent Pediatric Rehabilitation Services. Affiliations with Children’s Theraplay Foundation, Easterseals Crossroads Indiana, local schools, and the community bring more children every day to therapy that cannot be replicated in any other setting except with a horse.
Morning Dove also participates in Indiana Special Olympics, which offers equestrian sports training and athletic competition in an Olympic-type sport for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics enables riders to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and share their gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
