Our Mission

Our mission at Morning Dove is to improve the lives of individuals with physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disabilities in Central Indiana through equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Our Vision

We believe that horses can offer tremendous benefit to people, whether emotionally, physically, or cognitively. Individuals with these disabilities enjoy easy access to equine-assisted therapies as part of their overall treatment.

β€œJ. loves coming to ride his horse and doing so has helped him gain core strength and avoid spinal surgery for his progressive scoliosis. He loves the games that the trainers set up for him and always leaves with a smile. Thank you Morning Dove for all that you do!”

β€œI have seen some amazing things from my girls during and after riding! V.’s attention and ability to process information improves, and E.'s ability to regulate emotionally on the horse is amazing! Riding also helps work their muscles and improves their coordination. Both girls look forward to riding and say that it is their best day of the week! Thank you!”

β€œM. loves riding at Morning Dove.  She’s been taking lessons for about seven years, and it is a very important part of her life.  If we are out of town or on a winter break from riding, she routinely asks when she will get to ride again.  [On vacation], she has asked about β€œher horse” Lollipop  daily.  I love the exercise she gets and watching her progress from a kid who wouldn’t go near the barn to one who wants to go in to brush her horse and give her a treat.”

β€œMorning Dove came into our lives at a critical time and has been such a place of peace for my daughter. The instructors and volunteers instantly made her feel safe and supported. Doing activities independently without one of her primary caregivers is typically very difficult, but the instructors have been so amazing that she instantly felt comfortable getting on the horse with them and has continued to do so independently. Because of this, her confidence in doing hard things in other areas of her life has also increased. Each week she leaves her lesson asking when she can go back! Thank you, Morning Dove, for being a gift to this community.”

β€œWe have been very pleased ...We appreciate that it starts on time and ends on time.  We appreciate that the volunteers are friendly and engaged.  We appreciate that when it is cancelled, there is a makeup session. Thanks so much!  …he will be back in the spring.”
